SEDA College’s Internship programme gives SEDA students the opportunity to get work experience and improve their English while working for an Irish company. Taking part in the programme is free for all long-term SEDA students, but applicants generally need to have at least an Intermediate level of English. Internship roles are available in the following sectors: IT, marketing, sales, business administration, hospitality, media, design, architecture, customer service, engineering, accounting and other areas. The internships are unpaid and last from 4 weeks to 6 months.

You don’t get paid: an internship is not a job – it’s unpaid work experience. Some employers may cover their interns’ expenses (transport, food etc), but students should not expect this as most internships are unpaid.
SEDA College has partnered up with some 50 companies in Dublin that are looking for interns. We’ve got opportunities in IT, sales & marketing, hospitality, business administration, architecture and many other areas.
Yes, there is. A number of SEDA students have been offered permanent positions, after completing their internships (and well paid!). However, in most cases there is no job offer at the end of the work experience. So, if you are looking for a paid job to support yourself in Ireland, we would NOT advise you to apply for an internship. At the same time, experience that you get doing an internship will look great on your CV and could help you find a job in future.
This depends on you and on the company. The minimum time commitment that is required of students is 4 weeks (part-time or full-time). However, most employers prefer to take interns for at least 2-3 months, so students who are available for longer periods have a better chance of getting a good placement.
Both part-time and full-time internships are available. If you are studying in SEDA, you can only do the internship part time. However, when you are on holidays you can work full time.
Every long-term SEDA student (student whose course is for at least 6 months) can apply for free.
Yes, but you can only do your internship part-time (up to 20 hours per week) during your studies. When you are on your school holidays, you are free to do your internship full-time.
Office-based internships are only available to students with Intermediate and above level of English. If your English is below Intermediate you can still apply, but we will only be able to offer you work experience in catering or hospitality (hotel, cafe etc).
The more experience you have the easier it is for SEDA to find you a good internship. If you’ve no or little experience, we may not be able to find you an internship in your field of studies. Still, we encourage everyone to apply.
Companies offering internships to SEDA students are located throughout Dublin, so there is no guarantee that you will be working in the city centre. Please keep in mind that most employers do not cover their interns’ expenses, so you will have to pay for transport yourself.
Applying for an internship is absolutely free of charge.
You should apply as soon as possible because, depending on your background, it may take some time (up to 2-3 months) for us to find you a good internship opportunity.
It depends on your background, availability and the opportunities available. We have been able to find an internship within 2 or 3 days for some students, but for others it may take much longer – up to 2-3 months. Therefore we would ask all students to apply as soon as possible.
